Estudio es una propuesta que pone en contacto diversos elementos de la producción de Diego Mallo a través del dibujo como herramienta fundamental.
Es una reflexión sobre el acto creativo, a través de una mirada curiosa e irónica, del dominio del trazo, del pensamiento y de los materiales.
Un viaje al interior de su taller, entre recortes, fragmentos o dibujos superpuestos unos encima de otros a la espera de ser combinados entre ellos.
Muchos del los recursos utilizados son la materia prima, tanto emocional como gráfica y conceptual a la espera de tomar sentido o de reconocerse en la falta de sentido.
La propia exposición es el montaje y el momento en que se reconstruye el contexto de su estudio, esa materia prima vuelve a tomar forma y establece nuevas relaciones.
Diego Mallo es artista visual y docente. Licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Barcelona, completó su formación en Inglaterra en las Universidades de Exeter, Winchester y Brighton.
Su trabajo escarba en lo cotidiano hasta que el absurdo o lo grotesco se dejan ver. Es este encuentro con el sinsentido, que en ocasiones le sirve como elemento crítico, sobre el que gira gran parte de su práctica. Le importa el gesto imperceptible, el lenguaje corporal y, especialmente, la retórica del lenguaje, en cuanto que marca los límites de lo que puede ser pensado, concebido o incluso percibido.
Ha sido becado con residencias artísticas en Zurich (Kunsthaus Aussersihl y OG9), Manchester (Islington Mill), Sofia (SBH) y Barcelona (La Escocesa). Su trabajo ha sido expuesto en galerías de Suiza, Alemania, Inglaterra, Portugal, Bulgaria y España. Participó en la 250 y 251 ediciones de la Summer Exhibition de la Royal Academy de Londres en los años 2018 y 2019 respectivamente.

Estudio is a proposal that brings together various elements of Diego Mallo‘s production through drawing as a fundamental tool.
It is a reflection on the creative act, through a curious and ironic look, the mastery of the stroke, thought and materials.
A journey into the interior of his workshop, among cut-outs, fragments or drawings overlapped one on top of the other, waiting to be combined with each other.
Many of the resources used are the raw material, emotional as well as graphic and conceptual, waiting to make sense or to recognize themselves in the lack of sense.
The exhibition itself is the setting and the moment in which the context of his studio is reconstructed, that raw material takes shape again and establishes new relationships.
Diego Mallo is a visual artist and teacher. He has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, and completed his training in England at the Universities of Exeter, Winchester and Brighton.
His work digs into the everyday until the absurd or the grotesque are revealed. It is this encounter with the nonsense, which sometimes serves as a critical element, on which much of his practice revolves. He cares about the imperceptible gesture, body language and, especially, the rhetoric of language, insofar as it marks the limits of what can be thought, conceived or even perceived.
